I'm using these cameras as follows: Lomo LC-A+, Fuji Zoom Date 1000, Olympus XA and the Yashica T4 Zoom.
For me what I love about using such cameras is how they'd just allow me to focus on composition and the subject matter. I don't have to worry about changing lenses or making changes to f-stop and aperture. Most of other gear is quite large in comparison so having a camera I can just drop in my pocket and go is great.
I loved being able to share my travel images with folks who may never get the chance to see or visit those places. Being able to share how I see the world with people is really amazing to me.
Honestly my best advice is to just get out there and do it. These day a decent 35mm can be purchase for less than $20. The more you shoot the more you learn what your camera can and can't do and then you can begin pushing its and your limits.
